Parenting

Many people believe that you are only as happy as your most unhappy child.

I offer psychotherapy to help parents cope with the trauma of watching their children suffer from many issues including bullying. Sometimes, parents who inevitably feel pain for their children, unknowingly make it worse by becoming overwhelmed themselves.

Our children need us to feel compassion, tempered with objectivity.  I know how to help you show your children empathy without becoming lost in the pain you feel for them, so they can emerge feeling both supported and empowered.

"It's not your fault."

Learning that your child has special needs can be traumatic for you, the parent.  You may wonder what you did to deserve this, or you may find yourself getting frustrated, even while understanding that your child can't do any better.

I can help you to forgive yourself so that you are free to focus on the needs of your child.

Children who are socially isolated

It’s painful to have a child who feels like a social outcast. You may want to deny it (That can’t be true; everyone loves you!) or you may resonate too much, reverting to the pain of your own childhood.

Either way, to help your child navigate the social waters of childhood, you need to be both empathetic and realistic. I can help you find enough distance from your child’s problems to be a caring and effective advocate for them.
